My personal outcomes.

The Being Bad module has served as an oppurtunity to take a look at the world around me. I feel that I have analysed an array of areas within the media/celebrity world, the political and religious world, and also the social world; which all seem to merge into one big entity that I will never have any substancial influence on.

It's been nice.

As for personal outcomes, I realised that I have an opinion on many subject areas that I might not have shown any interest for in the past. I have also excercised my own knowledge and found a little more in the way of personal wisdom than I was expecting.

This module has ultimately afforded me the oppurtunity to educate myself and find interest where I would never have looked.

I have realised what funny creatures we really are.

Body Modification

I think BM is an acceptible thing on many levels, and yet is very unacceptible on so many other levels.

Personally, I feel that piercings, tattoos and most other invasive/non-invasive decorations are totally acceptible; when on fairly creative and artistic grounds.

Even sexual modifications shouldn't be frowned upon as much as they might be.

But, when it comes to religious BM, I feel it should be more of a choice rather than compulsory; especially when it comes to young children being submitted to acts of modification before they even understand why that modification might be 'necessary'.

As for understanding any modifications people might want to have, I'd like to respond to beingbadbeingbecky.blogspot.com/ (Penny, Rebecca J.) in full agreement with her point about tattoos that have no meaning to the people who bare them. There are so many people who get tattoos in foreign languages because they look cool, and yet don't have any idea what it actually means. It really is quite an ignorant thing! I wonder if the Beckhams can actually read their own tattoos? I'm sure they ask what a design means before they get inked, but I wonder if they remember what it says a week later (they probably have it written down somewhere!) and yet these are the very people within the celebrity world who, via the media, have the power to influence others to do the same thing.

Bad Cinema: Being Banned

I absolutely love A Clockwork Orange (1971). That's gotta be a real piece of Bad Cinema, considereing it's the only film to ever be banned by it's own director (Stanley Kubrick). The fact that a bunch of complete cretins started coppy-catting the ultra-violent acts of the protagonists of the film just reaffirms this (and is the reason for it being banned).

It is interesting quite naturally because of its political content/theory as well as its very own approach to violence. I have wondered about the political content of the film and pictured the authorities badgering Kubrick in '71: forcing him to ban his own film on the basis of some staged crimes.

Are we being too religious?

On the whole, I'd say we (the human race) are a bunch of extremists.

No matter what faith you might follow, it is arguable that there are quite radical beliefs involved in your religion.

It is also arguable that the majority of war is essentially caused by religious beliefs. But, rather than ranting on about holy wars and extremists, I've recently been quite intrigued by the rather radical 'religion' Scientology.

Scientology seems to have somewhat of a cult following, with the exception of it's very own Hollywood stars, spreading this grey-area-of-a-word of Scientology.

The following links will provide you with a humourous explanation of 'what it's all about'. I've even included an anti-Scientology film for you to watch! It's interesting to see the extreme lengths to which people will go to make a bit, no, a lot of cash!

Rebels without cause?

An interesting subject, Bandits and Outlaws.

It is extremely debateable wether or not historic or fictional outlaws should be seen as likeable or unlikeable. Robin Hood is quite an interesting character as he is deemed an outlaw and yet is portrayed as a hero in any books/films/animations. He robs from the rich and gives to the poor! and therefore, whilst steeling and breaking the law, has very honourable principles.

There are other likeable bandits who are not so honourable. Natural Born Killers was a very interesting film because it explored a fictional (and altogether real) media's attitude towards Mickey and Malorie; two extremely violent outlaws who somehow manage to attract a mass of attention and love from the public and media, through their expressions of love and compassion towards eachother.

Film quote from a fan of the protagonists: "If I was a Mass-Murderer, I'd be Mickey and Malorie."

Take a risk.

I hate infidelity. If you're not happy with the person you are with, you should not be with that person !!!

I can understand the idea of marriage becoming stale and couples growing apart and so forth, but it is perfectly obvious to me that the only way of gaining any possible chance of overcoming problems is to address them with your partner. Your partner should be the closest person to you and the one person you can be wholly honest with.

Yes, there are the bonds of marriage that essentially create the risk and hence excitement factor of cheating, but surely one can confront their partner and express whatever needs are not being fulfilled.

Perhaps you need to experience true love before you can indulge this kind of an opinion. Perhaps you need to experience a stale relationship before you can indulge a thirst for infidelity.

If your relationship is stale, you need to address this problem with your partner. If the problem cannot be resolved, you should seek happiness elsewhere. This opinion comes from personal experience, where I (without cheating) risked being alone to find true happiness. I found it. I am happy.

Time out from the world.

I thought it would be rather appropriate to post this blog entry in a bold font.
Reason being: It's a fairly bold subject and I'm going to be very bold about it in my writing. . .

There's nothing wrong with masturbation. Everybody does it. If there is one person on the planet who tells the truth when they say "I don't ever" then that person needs to be checked out mentally (or already is).

Masturbation is comfort. Just like smoking, but it doesn't give you a mouth like an ashtray (though it does dry you out). It's a mixture of things really. It's a release of sexual frustration but also a release from existence: It's like a timeout from the world.

Why shouldn't people masturbate? It's a harmless activity that can make someones day. Not mine, so much. . . but someones: I have more pressing things to consume my time, and I have a wonderful girlfriend who makes my year whenever I see her. My girlfriend and I have a very healthy understanding of eachothers needs and wants. But this is not to say that masturbation becomes a no-go area!

Look at it this way: If sex was not enjoyable, then we would have no desire to have sex whatsoever. We would not have done it however far back it became a necessity to do it. Therefore we would never have procreated. Masturbation is just a product of this, which is something that I feel should be acknowledged when considering just how dirty or unnecessary the act itself is deemed to be.

What do I think about smoking?

I need to get a few opinions off my chest:

No matter what anyone else might believe about me, I do like to socialise.

When I'm standing at a bar and I'm waiting ages to be served, the last thing I'm eager for is somebody standing next to or behind me puffing away like a chimney and smothering me with their cigarette stink: it severely pisses me off! It's something thats off-putting at the thought of going out to a bar or whatever.

When I'm walking down the street and someone crosses the road just in time to get in front of me on the pavement and exhales a mushroom cloud for the gentle breeze to carry over my face and into my lungs, I feel like pushing that someone back into the road!

And what about this 'Smoking-Non-Smoking' thing you get when you enter a restaurant!: Unless there's some kind of separate dining room for the lung-smotherers, WE'RE ALL SMOKING THEIR S**T! Eating out at a restaurant sometimes becomes like eating out of an ashtray! It stinks and tastes real bad!

I cannot WAIT for the smoking ban in certain public areas to be enforced in the summer! I think smoking needs to be abolished! In my eyes, the only positive thing to come from smoking is the cool, atmospheric and mysterious look it afforded characters in the noir and gangster genres of film.

Thats a positive.

Otherwise, I can't see any real use for myself. Yes, I can understand certain positives about the way it makes the smoker feel; the calming relaxation it affords the inhaler. But the whole chain smoking thing really gets to me: what a waste of life and money!

My girlfriend, Christine, doesn't smoke. I love her no matter what, but if she was a smoker; I'd probably feel that little bit less attracted to her. And I know it works the other way around. It's weird, but there it is. It's off-putting.

Smoking kills. Smoking smells. Smoking repels, repulses and swells with a certain sense of 'I don't give a sh*t about others'.

So if you smoke; give up or smoke less please. If you don't; great, just don't start. Think of the money you're paying someone to kill you slowly.

1. Punishable by DEATH

"Why are the innocent punished?"

I heard someone say this recently (it's not the point who it was) and it got me thinking:

Isn't it a natural tendency to believe that no matter how hard you might try at something, no matter how much you care, strive or long for something; no matter how hard you might wish for the simplist of things- like wishing for a quiet life, with as little hassle as possible; no matter how hard you try to keep your head down, no matter how much love you have to give, and whether or not you believe in any kind of God; you are punishable by not only death, but loss?

I think it is only natural- only human- to feel this way once in a while. And it's the biggest pain in the ass.

To me, being bad is part of the every-day-healing-process. It's usefull.

Why shouldn't the convicted invent petty crimes to reflect their convictions of immortality?

-(a field trip to Amsterdam would provide a good setting for crimes against immortality, me thinks!)
